About me

I grew up in Leicester, UK, in an area filled with immigrants from all over the world. My father was an Eastern European Holocaust refugee, who spoke many languages and endured some terrible losses in his earlier life. These factors have formed a big part of who I am today – I love learning languages, I think of myself as a “citizen of the world” and I do my best to fight prejudice and injustice of all kinds.

I fell in love with music at an early age, and music has always been a driving force in my life, so I started work in a record shop! Somewhere along the way “I took a wrong turn and I just kept goin’” (to quote Bruce Springsteen) and ended up in the world of IT, delivering IT Services, managing projects and programs, and managing teams of people.

I have a partner, son and daughter-in-law, and two young grandsons, all of whom I adore.

Music is still a big part of my life – I love to go to gigs, discover new music, and I also work with a wonderful bunch of musicians who raise funds for research into Parkinson’s Disease, ALS, and other neurological disorders – see www.lightofday.org

I am also a (slow!) runner, currently training for my first half marathon, I love gardening and I read a lot!

My ASPIRATIONS

  • To promote equality across our “global village” (the world),
  • To support the empowerment of women and girls
  • To fight injustice and prejudice

My LIFE GOALS

  • To be a good partner, parent, grandparent, and citizen of the world
  • To support my two young grandsons as they grow
  • To grow older as healthily and (dis)gracefully as I can
  • To travel to as many parts of the world as I can afford to
  • To see lots more live music!

My QUOTE

“It ain’t no sin to be glad you’re alive!”
